- Apple's Time Machine is the go-to backup method for many Mac users. Apple's termination of the AirPort/Time Capsule series, however, puts some users in a lurch over how they will be continuing to back up their Macs using Time Machine. Luckily there are Apple approved Time Machine backup options sans Time Capsule.
- Open Time Machine preferences from the Time Machine menu in the menu bar. Or choose Apple menu System Preferences, then click Time Machine. Deselect ”Back Up Automatically” or click the Off/On switch, depending on what you see in Time Machine preferences.
Remember to set the app to “ON,” otherwise your modifications won’t take effect, and the default hourly backup settings will still be applied. There’s an “ON/OFF” button at the bottom-left of the app. A Few Things to Remember. Using the Time Machine Editor, you don’t need to keep Time Machine running all the time.
